Questions and answers
Do you have any questions? Here you will find the answers.
General
The app helps you to stay healthy and fit
.
Start by answering the questions about your lifestyle and find out how healthy you are living. How high is your lifestyle score? In which areas do you urgently need to make changes?
Depending on your results, the app will suggest goals that you can use to practice healthy habits. Set yourself two or three goals and pursue them consistently.
The app offers a large selection of digital workouts, training sessions, meditations and recipes. Take a look around - what appeals to you, what do you find useful?
There is also a news section with new posts every day and an activity section with competitions and challenges. Here you can get active together with others.
Every Tuesday you will find four weekly tasks in the app. You will receive hearts for completing them, which you can exchange for rewards.
Your employer can also post health news and corporate health offerings in the app and keep you up to date on all topics relating to occupational health.

Account & data
No. Hanako does not pass on any personal data to your employer or third parties. Your employer only receives summarized statistical information, for example how many users the app has in total and how intensively certain functions are used.
Hanako is a German company and is subject to strict German and European data protection laws. You can find more information in the privacy policy, which you can access under "Usage & Privacy".
You can easily continue to use the app on your new smartphone.
To do this, log in to the app in exactly the same way as you did on your old smartphone. All data will be transferred automatically. Nothing is lost, not even hearts, points or statistics. You only need to reconnect the data sources under "Activity".
If your mobile number changes and you were logged in on your old smartphone with your old mobile number, you can change your mobile number as follows:
- Access the app on your old smartphone.
- On the "Home" page, tap your picture at the top.
- Select "Personal data."
- Change your mobile number to the new number.
If you don't have your old smartphone anymore, please contact the Hanako support.
Yes, that is possible. The app can be used with the same account on two smartphones at the same time.
It is important that you log in on the second smartphone in the same way and with the same information as on the first.
If you tap on your picture at the top right of the "Home" page, you will be taken to your account settings. There you will find the "Delete data" button at the bottom.
If you tap on "Delete data", you can choose whether you only want to delete the data on your smartphone or all data.
If you delete the data on your smartphone, your account will remain intact - with your personal data and what you have achieved in the app, such as points, badges and hearts.
If, on the other hand, you decide to delete all data, your entire account will be deleted, i.e. all personal data and everything you have achieved, such as points, badges and hearts.
Deleting all data cannot be undone.
Home
Every Tuesday morning, four new weekly tasks appear on the Home page. Complete them to earn points and a green heart
.
During the first week, the weekly tasks help you to get to know the app. From the second week, you can complete the tasks by doing the following:
- Go to the "News" page and answer two quiz questions that you haven't answered yet. New quiz questions will be provided every Tuesday and Thursday.
- Go to the "Goals" page and check off a goal of your choice on at least three different days. The three days must be in the period from Tuesday of this week to Monday of next week.
- Go to the "Activity" page and participate in a challenge. You must win at least a Bronze badge to complete the task.
You can complete the fourth task once you have completed the other three tasks.
If you complete all four tasks, you will earn points and a heart.
When you complete the four weekly tasks, you will receive a green heart. You can redeem hearts for rewards
.
You must complete all four weekly tasks to receive a heart. Your progress is shown at the top of the Home page.
When you have enough hearts, you can redeem them for rewards. You can see the available rewards and their price in hearts at the bottom of the Home page.
If you complete the four weekly tasks, you will receive points. By collecting points, you reach new levels.
You receive 100 points for completing all the weekly tasks in the first week. From the second week onwards, it is 75 points. If you complete a challenge from the second week onwards with a bronze badge, you will be rewarded with an additional 25 points. For silver you get 50 extra points, for gold 75 extra points.
If you exceed certain total points, your level increases. The level expresses how consistently you use the app and how successful you are in the challenges.
Your level is displayed in a small blue hexagon on your portrait at the top of the home area.
Exchange your hearts for rewards. You can see the available rewards at the bottom of the "Home" page.
Rewards are provided by Hanako, by a health insurance company or by your employer, for example as part of events. You will be informed about new rewards in advance.
Always available is the reward "tree donation". Every time you redeem this reward, Hanako will have a tree planted by Eden Reforestation Projects.
News
On the News page you will find several types of posts. These are marked with different symbols.
- Messages items have a letter icon. They contain news and information from your employer.
- Articles have a text icon. They contain information about health topics.
- Quizzes have a light bulb icon. They contain one question, several answers, and an explanation.
- Polls have a question mark icon. They contain one question, several answers, and an explanation.
Articles, quizzes and polls are written by Hanako. Their content is based on current scientific evidence and recommendations from official bodies such as the World Health Organization (WHO).
Articles and quizzes are used to familiarize you with the app's features and guide you step by step through various topics. In addition, quizzes on changing topics are published every Tuesday and Thursday.
Activity
You can participate in weekly challenges. Join in and win bronze, silver or gold
.
Every Tuesday morning, three new challenges are offered on the Activity page. Two of them work with activity tracking and one without. All three start immediately and run until Sunday evening, i.e. for six days.
Challenges can be quite different. The challenges with activity tracking involve, for example, collecting steps, floors, active minutes or cycling kilometres with your tracking device.
Challenges without activity tracking are entered manually. Here, for example, it can be about drinking more, eating more vegetables or breathing consciously.
All six days, the best three days or the best day are scored.
To take part in a challenge with activity tracking, you need to connect a suitable data source. In most cases, all you need is a smartphone, possibly with additional apps such as Google Fit, Komoot or Strava.
If you are using an Android phone, you can only record floors with a suitable directly connected tracker, for example from Fitbit, Garmin, Polar, Withings or Suunto. Otherwise, participation is not possible. In the same week, however, there will always be a challenge with steps or active minutes that you can take part in.
You can register for challenges using any name. It does not have to be your real name.
Have you been invited to participate in a competition? Join in and support your group by collecting as many steps as possible
.
Competitions are organized by your employer. They have a fixed start date and run from five days to six weeks.
In competitions, several groups compete against each other on a virtual route. All group members record their steps with smartphones or fitness trackers. The winner is the group whose members average the most steps.
Pick a name, picture, and group when you enter a competition. You can also enter anonymously.
On the first day of the competition, you can still change to another group. Name and picture can be changed at any time.
If you have an iPhone, you can use it to record steps, floors, active minutes, and kilometers
.
For steps, floors and kilometers, you need to connect the Apple Health app. It comes pre-installed on every iPhone.
For active minutes, you need Komoot or Strava. You can install both apps from the App Store and use them for free.
To connect Apple Health, Komoot or Strava, tap on the cogwheel icon at the top right of the Activity page, select the appropriate app and follow the instructions.
You can connect multiple apps at the same time.
Please note that Komoot and Strava only count active minutes when you record tours or workouts with Komoot or Strava, respectively.
If you use an Android phone, you can use it to record steps, active minutes and kilometers
.
To do this, you need the Google Fit app. If Google Fit is not yet installed on your Android phone, you can do so via the Play Store.
To connect Google Fit, tap the gear in the upper right corner of the Activity page, select Google Fit and follow the instructions.
Unfortunately, floors cannot be counted with Google Fit.
If you have a fitness tracker or sports watch from Fitbit or Garmin, you can use it to record steps, floors, active minutes, and kilometers
.
This is provided that these metrics are supported by your Fitbit or Garmin model. For example, not all Fitbit models can count floors.
To connect Fitbit or Garmin, tap on the cogwheel icon in the upper right corner of the Activity page, select Fitbit or Garmin, respectively, and follow the instructions.
Please note that Fitbit counts bike kilometers only if you record workouts with Fitbit. Garmin counts floors, active minutes, and bike kilometers only when you record activities with Garmin.
Some new models from Fitbit count active minutes as well as so-called zone minutes, which are defined slightly differently. However, the active minutes are the ones that are read out.
If you use a fitness tracker or sports watch from Withings, Polar or Suunto, you can use it to record steps, floors, active minutes and kilometers
.
The prerequisite is that these metrics are supported by your model. For example, not all models can count floors.
To connect Withings, Polar or Suunto, tap the gear in the upper right corner of the Activity page, select Withings, Polar or Suunto respectively and follow the instructions.
Please note that it may be necessary to explicitly record workouts with your fitness tracker or sports watch to collect all relevant data.
For Withings, you need to sync your fitness tracker or sports watch with Withings Health Mate before the collected data can be transferred from there to our app.
If you have a Samsung fitness tracker or sports watch, you can use it to record steps, floors, active minutes and kilometers
.
The prerequisite for this is that these metrics are supported by your Samsung tracker or Samsung watch. For example, not all models can count floors.
Samsung fitness trackers and sports watches transmit their data to the Samsung Health app. Unfortunately, Samsung Health cannot be connected directly to our app.
However, it is possible to connect Samsung Health with the Health Connect app from Google. To do this, download Health Connect from the Play Store.
In Health Connect, you can select Samsung Health under "App permissions" and allow access.
Then connect Health Connect to our app. To do this, tap on the cogwheel at the top right of the "Activity" page in our app, select Health Connect and follow the instructions.
One more note: If you want to open Health Connect again later, you won't find an app icon on your smartphone. You will have to open it via the Play Store.
You can also use other fitness trackers and sports watches to record steps and, if applicable, floors, active minutes and kilometers
.
To check if your fitness tracker or sports watch is supported, tap on the cogwheel icon in the upper right corner of the Activity page and see if the corresponding manufacturer or app appears in the list of apps and devices that can be added. There you will also see what data you can access.
To connect the fitness tracker or sports watch, follow the instructions from there.
Some of the fitness trackers and sports watches can be connected directly. The rest can be connected indirectly, via the Apple Health app for iPhones or via the Google Fit app for Android phones.
Ultimately, you can connect any fitness tracker or sports watch that transmits data to Apple Health or Google Fit. Unfortunately, no floors can be read out from Google Fit.

.
On the Offers page, you will find digital offers on topics such as nutrition, exercise, relaxation and sleep. They come from Hanako or selected quality providers.
